In my first ten days at Creighton I’ve come to realize that privacy is a thing of the past, gone are the days of living in five person household, now I live with sixty other “adults” on one of the most social floors. The eighth floor of Swanson Hall is an experience; as a group we decided that quiet hours begin at one a.m, which shows how great we are at using our newfound freedom to make decisions, so every night people sprint through the halls and blast music until our RAs (Mom and Dad) kick us out of the hall. This is going to be interesting...

During my first week as a Bluejay, I learned that I'm just a tiny fish in a college sized pond. Back in Hawai'i, I am around the average height for men, so coming to a place where many people are over six-feet tall has been quite a shock. It makes me wonder, how they manage to shower in the dorms since even I manage to bump my head on the shower nozzle. But besides that, everyone has been really friendly, my classes have been great, and I have been receiving a lot of support from the school. So I guess in that sense, I'm glad to be a short Creighton student and this first week has really made me excited for the next four years.

During my first 10 days at Creighton University I had a lot of new experiences. One of the ones that I found to be most interesting was on one of the very first days when I was walking down my hall with my roommate and saw one of my floormates doors open. We stopped and went inside to say hi and ended up staying for half an hour talking and getting to know everyone on our floor. More people showed up exactly like I had. This was my first real experience of living in a dorm and it was a lot of fun.

During my first ten days at Creighton, I’ve come to realize that over here is a much different lifestyle than it is in Hawaii. It took a while to adjust to it but it has seen to grow on me as time goes on. But so far it’s pretty fun considering all of the activities that we had to do. And it was great to know that I’m not the only person from Hawaii over here, a lot of us would bond together, there was one time we even went in the kitchen to make spam musubis. It makes staying here at college a little easier knowing that there are people going through similar experiences.

     During my first 10 days at Creighton I thought it was interesting that we had  RSP groups and required events we had to attend. After the first day a lot of my friends from back home were texting me asking about how my first day went so I explained to them what my RSP group was and told them about some of the events. They were all really surprised because they didn't have anything like this. They just had events going on around campus that attendance was recommended but not required. Many of them said they wish they would've had something similar to help them get a better feel for the campus and really get used to it. 

Something interesting, during my first ten days of being a Creighton student, happened over a weekend.  During that weekend, I got to bond with my Ohana Group for Hawaii Club.  We went to Midtown Crossing to have a small brunch at a restaurant called Crave; and later grabbed some Boba at Thirst Tea.  

During this bonding, it was great and interesting to know the people in my group.  Because although we all came from the same state, it made me realize how diverse we are. We all came from different parts of the island; went to different high schools; have different ethnic backgrounds; and have different intended majors at Creighton.
